About

Ferret Information Systems are leaders in welfare benefits understanding, assessment and modelling. Since 1981 we have led the way in using technology to provide accurate and useful information, advice and analysis. Ferret works across central and local governments, financial services and the third sector in bringing together the understanding of the holistic impacts of tax, benefits, financial products and other elements.

Established and trusted

We started off, in 1981, as a Cardiff Citizens Advice Bureaux project, run by our founder and CEO Gareth Morgan.  That was so successful (it won the highest award in British computing) that it became a national project funded by the government. When the funding for that ended, in 1987, we spun off into Ferret. And we've carried on since then

We've been at the front of development since we began, with a number of world's firsts, including:
  • Worlds first PC benefits advice system - 1981
  • World’s first mobile benefits advice system - 1987
  • The world's first large scale roll out of mobile technology into government in 1988 / 1990
  • The World's first web benefits advice system, in 1995
  • First Universal Credit advice system - 2012

Our Goal

We're still doing what we started about 40 years ago - getting better information to people to help ensure that they are able to get the help that they're entitled to.

We've widened the areas of work into related topics like home improvement, pensions and equity release.

We've extended our reach with training, eLearning, modelling, partnerships and consultancy.

Our goal is still the same, to help people in need.
